The Field Trainer is responsible for supporting, providing, and recording training activities for Blue Star Gas retail plants, fleet, and rail terminal operations. This position reports to and works closely with the Training Manager and will support field operations and other training needs as required. The ideal candidate must possess a strong understanding of our company culture, retail propane operations, evangelize the use of our systems, and promote Blue Star Gas' Safety First Culture. The Field Trainer must have excellent communication skills, time management, and work well in stressful situations. The Field trainer must be able to lead, direct, perform, and execute training tasks.
Essential functions of this position also require the ability to utilize current as well as future software tools as support for training materials as well as visual aids, props, and hands on at customer locations. This position will require a solid background in safety, company procedures, project management, BSG programs, division operations, fleet management, DOT and regulatory compliance and strong computer skills.
Above all, the Field Trainer must demonstrate a high degree of accountability, integrity, possess superior interpersonal and customer service skills, and be adept at building strong relationships with staff at all levels of the organization.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

In-depth knowledge of the industry code and regulations and their application in the operations environment:
CETP Courses, course structure, and expectations of hands-on skills
OSHA and DOT regulations
NFPA 54, 58, and 59
Uniform Fire Code/international Fire Code
FRA rules and regulations
Other federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules.
Training Program Management
In conjunction with designated skills assessors, evaluate employee competency and ensure proper sign-off prior to release to full duty.
In conjunction with designated skills assessors, perform periodic field skill assessments of operations staff and refresher training as required.
Record all employee training (initial training, refresher training, and any other/specialized training) within BSG University or other Learning Management System tools (training matrix).
Coordinate all training classes in conjunction with the Training Manager and operations leadership.
Fleet focused training requirements and regulatory compliance.
FRA training.
Be able to manage multiple Safety/Training initiatives at one time while providing support to assigned teams.
Assist with managing budgets for business initiatives regarding Safety/Training.
Manage and maintain the Blue Star Gas Training Center.
Safety and Compliance
Assist in company compliance with safety codes and policies.
Perform safety audits in conjunction with the Safety Department.
Report any Safety deficiencies witnessed and intercede in any potential Safety policy violations.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
At least 5 years of experience overseeing safety, training, and compliance.
