Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our finance team. The Senior Accountant will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial records, managing monthly close processes, and preparing financial reports. This position will also support various accounting functions, assist with compliance and audit requirements, and provide insights to support strategic financial decisions.
Key Responsibilities
• General Ledger Management: Oversee and maintain general ledger accounts, ensure proper account reconciliations, and assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
• Financial Reporting: Assist in preparing and analyzing financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and work in process job schedules, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Accounts Payable & Cash Management: Review and approve accounts payable, ensuring proper coding and classification in the general ledger. Maintain strong communication with the Finance team and Operations to ensure outstanding bills are accounted for on a weekly basis. Manage weekly check runs and payment timing for cash flow purposes. Collaborate with the Fince team to ensure understanding of cashflow and cash requirements on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis.
• Payroll Review & Compliance: Assist Payroll/HR with review and processing of bi-weekly payroll and maintaining payroll compliance. Reconciliation and payment of payroll taxes, benefits, and insurance. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and yearly payroll tax filings and manage payroll reporting.
• Budgeting and Forecasting Support: Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, providing data-driven insights and variance analysis.
• Audit and Compliance Support: Assist in coordinating with external auditors during audits, ensuring accurate and complete documentation and compliance with GAAP and internal controls.
• Fixed Assets Management: Maintain records of fixed assets, monitor capital expenditures, and prepare depreciation schedules.
• Tax Filings & Compliance: Support tax filings, assist with tax documentation, and work with external advisors on tax-related matters.
• Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements within the accounting function, contributing to efficiencies and best practices.
• Cross-Department Collaboration: Partner with other departments to provide financial insights and assist in budgeting and expense management.
Qualifications • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. CPA or CMA certification preferred. • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead accounting role. • Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software. QuickBooks, CMIC, or other Construction software experience preferred. Advanced Excel skills. Strong understanding of GAAP. • Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with a keen attention to detail. Ability to make decisions on the fly. • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to explain financial information to non-financial team members. • Time Management: Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. • Ethics & Integrity: High level of integrity and commitment to accuracy in financial reporting and compliance.
