Position Summary:
The Purchasing Manager will be responsible for managing and optimizing the procurement process, maintaining relationships with suppliers, and ensuring that our manufacturing operations have the necessary resources to meet production demands. This role involves developing purchasing strategies, negotiating contracts, and overseeing inventory control.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Supply Management
Manage and maintain current supplies to support day-to-day manufacturing operations.
Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure quality and reliability.
Establish and maintain supplier KPI tools to sustain accountability.
Purchasing Strategies
Develop and implement effective purchasing strategies, analyzing bids and competitive pricing across all product lines.
Evaluate supplier performance and negotiate favorable terms and contracts.
Review and processing of purchasing orders are timely and accurate.
Inventory Control
Oversee inventory levels of raw materials, finished goods, and work-in-progress to ensure optimal stock levels are maintained.
Lead internal component auditing and inventory activity to include establishing effective frequencies and schedules.
Collaborate with production teams to forecast inventory needs and manage replenishment schedules.
Continuous Improvement
Identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement within the purchasing function.
Implementation of best method that compliments an effective MRP system.
Monitor market trends and adjust purchasing strategies accordingly.
Team Development
Lead and mentor the purchasing team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
Training new employees in the purchasing process and how to use the purchasing system.
Conduct regular performance evaluations and coaching sessions.
Additional Responsibilities
Support production planning by ensuring timely procurement of materials to meet production schedules.
Communicate with customers as needed regarding items impacted by the supply base.
Collaborate with the upper management team to set purchasing benchmarks
Travel as needed to support company goals and performance.
Address supplier-related issues, including delivery delays and quality concerns, to minimize impact on production.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
Proven experience in purchasing or supply chain management, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
Strong negotiation and communication skills.
Proficiency in inventory management and purchasing software.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
