Product Development Manager

Our client is a thriving LA-based cosmetics & beauty brand that is seeking a dynamic and experienced Product Development Manager to guide the entire lifecycle of new products from concept through launch. This role demands a strategic thinker who can coordinate effectively across multiple teams to bring innovative products to market. The Product Development Manager will ensure that each phase of development aligns with the company's objectives. This position is based out of their San Francisco office.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Lead all stages of product creation, including developing briefs, partnering with vendors, and managing testing processes.
  • Work closely with various departments to align projects with timelines and quality standards.
  • Coordinate consumer perception studies, overseeing logistics, analyzing results, and sharing insights with key stakeholders.
  • Provide regular project updates in internal meetings, tracking timelines, and ensuring all parties are informed.
  • Review product prototypes, offering timely feedback to external partners to support development.
  • Collaborate with compliance teams to ensure that products meet global testing and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain and organize product samples, submissions, and packaging assets for different development initiatives.
  • Partner with brand teams to support product launches and contribute to brand-led initiatives as needed.
  • Monitor industry trends to inform product strategies and support broader business objectives.
  • Supervise a small team, offering guidance and oversight on their projects.

Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience in product development, with a demonstrated passion for the beauty industry.
  • Proven ability to bring products from concept through to launch with strong attention to detail.
  • Adaptable and comfortable working with changing priorities and evolving project timelines.
  • Excellent communication skills, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a collaborative team spirit.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint); familiarity with Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop is a plus.
  • Some travel required.
