Two dynamic and innovative Upstate New York institutions are seeking a Director of Education to lead all education programs for an art museum and an open-air history museum. The Director of Education will oversee the education staff and all aspects of the education department including formulation and implementation of formal education programs, outreach, and museum interpretation: promoting excellence in education to all audiences.
Responsibilities include creating, building and engaging new audiences through innovative programming, identifying educational grant opportunities, representing the organizations on professional committees and organizations, overseeing the development and coordination of all education program materials, preparing and overseeing budgets, and working with the President/CEO to develop and direct educational goals and objectives, all while maintaining high standards of professionalism.
Qualifications: Master's degree in Education or related field; a minimum of five years in public education, museum programming or comparable leadership position. Excellent verbal and written communication skills including public speaking; highly organized and detail oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects and budgets simultaneously; strong leadership abilities, with the ability to manage people of all ages and skill levels. Excellent interpersonal communication skills with the ability to self-manage and to work effectively and collaboratively as part of a team to accomplish shared organizational goals.
Familiarity with computer-based programs, database management, spreadsheet and publishing software. A high degree of motivation, energy, enthusiasm, professionalism and integrity are necessary.
