Description: Our client is currently seeking a Quality Assurance Manager Reporting to the Director of Quality, the Quality Assurance (QA) Manager is responsible for overseeing the quality assurance department and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, customer requirements, and industry best practices. This role involves developing, implementing, and maintaining a robust quality system, including SQF, HACCP, and cGMP programs.
This job will have the following responsibilities:
Quality System Management: Develop, implement, and maintain the company's quality system, including SOPs, cGMPs, and HACCP plans.
SQF and HACCP Oversight: Serve as the SQF Practitioner, overseeing the SQF system and leading audit facilitation. Manage HACCP plans, assessments, and reassessments.
Training and Development: Develop and deliver cGMP training programs to ensure compliance with quality and food safety standards.
Internal Audits and Compliance: Conduct internal quality audits, recall exercises, and ensure compliance with inspection, testing, and calibration processes.
Complaint Management: Manage the complaint system, investigating issues and implementing corrective actions.
Supplier Quality: Perform supplier audits and oversee raw material testing and batch record reviews.
QA Support: Provide on-the-floor QA support, visual inspections, and batch review/disposition.
R&D and Procurement Support: Collaborate with R&D on new product trials and with procurement to qualify new packaging components.
Data Management: Manage quality databases and generate reports.
Team Leadership: Supervise and develop the QA team, conduct performance evaluations, and foster a collaborative work environment.
HR Support: Assist with HR functions, including interviewing, performance reviews, and employee relations.
Food Safety: Report food safety and quality issues to management and ensure compliance with food safety regulations.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Engineering, Chemistry, or related field
3-5 years of managerial experience in the food or nutraceutical industry
Bilingual - English/Spanish
HACCP certification
SQF and NSF certification (preferred)
GMP certification
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
Proficiency in data management and analysis
