The Network Engineer is responsible for full life cycle management of campus, data center, and cloud networks including LAN, WAN, WLAN, network security and associated technologies. In our hybrid working environment, time for this position is split between working from home/remotely and being on-site.
A Day in the Life of a LAN/WAN/WLAN engineer might include:
Meeting with partner customers to design or re-design networks at a campus building.
Mentoring and teaching junior network administrators in fulfilling customer requests or troubleshooting.
Gathering vendor quotes for solutions and developing recommendations for lifecycle management, new builds, or updates.
Meeting with third parties to design integrations for services, software, or hardware.
Taking advantage of online training opportunities to grow and develop knowledge and skills.
Presenting network designs to executive leaders using Visio, PowerPoint, whiteboarding and other tools over video calls or in person.
Responsibilities:
Research and recommend upgrades/optimizations of deployed technologies.
Lead in network infrastructure design and implementation (LAN, WAN, WLAN), with heavy emphasis on MPLS in a campus environment and cloud integrations.
Manage, support, and troubleshoot complex network topologies and systems (Route/Switch, Wireless, Load Balancers, Firewalls, VPN).
Conduct packet capture analysis and troubleshooting.
Participate in on-call rotation and work flexible hours as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or other related technical discipline acquired through a regionally accredited institution AND 5 years' experience as a network administrator OR Equivalent combination of training, education, and experience.
