Your Role
As a Whitsitt IA Project Designer your role will be to conceptualize, create, coordinate, and implement the design of commercial projects. Working in tandem with project managers, you will guide the design efforts of the project team through design concepts, creation of design deliverables, presentation of designs to the client, and implementation of designs in construction documents. The project designer will work together with project managers to meet client goals and keep the project on schedule and on budget. As a Whitsitt IA Project Designer you will work closely with leadership to actively develop and progress your career, attain industry knowledge, and set and achieve individual goals. Whitsitt IA Project Designers will also be expected to impart to others what they have learned and actively work to support team members and progress firm goals.
What You Will Do
Lead project teams through the design of each project.
Guide project teams through each project phase to successfully complete design deliverables on schedule.
Manage project schedules and project production.
Develop the design of projects via charettes, ideation, and collaboration.
Survey and evaluate existing conditions at project sites to inform achievable design decisions.
Effectively source and specify finishes, fixtures, equipment, and furniture to meet design budget and schedule.
Produce construction documents as well as other project deliverables by working primarily in Revit.
Prepare project presentations by working primarily in InDesign.
Coordinate with consultants, vendors, and industry partners.
Participate effectively in client meetings.
Present designs during client meetings.
Review project submittals, shop drawings, and RFIs.
Work with consultants, contractors, and vendors to actively maintain the project schedule.
Ensure the successful implementation of firm project designs during construction administration.
Track construction progress by visiting active construction sites, attending construction meetings, reviewing, photographing, and documenting construction progress, and generating punch lists.
Track and manage your individual time and performance on projects.

Your Qualifications
3-7 years of experience in conceptualizing, documenting, detailing, and coordinating the design of commercial projects.
Professional degree (Master's or Bachelor's) in Architecture or Interior Design from an accredited program.
Licensed or actively working towards licensure.
Knowledge of and familiarity with architectural and interior design principles and practices.
Knowledge of and familiarity with building codes and structures.
Experience in and familiarity with all phases of project delivery.
Experience in conceptualizing, developing, and documenting design concepts including but not limited to: Finish palettes, finish plans, reflected ceiling plans, interior elevations, design presentations, millwork designs and details, interior details, lighting selection and specification, and fixture selection and specification.
Experience in selection, specification, and coordination of FF&E for commercial projects.
Experience in working with industry vendors and partners to review and coordinate FF&E specifications.
Experience in coordinating with Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing engineering consultants.
Experience in coordinating with general contractors and reviewing and responding to submittals, shop drawings, and RFIs.
Experience with training and leading team members.
Experience presenting project deliverables to clients.
Proficiency in Revit, InDesign, Bluebeam Revu, and Microsoft Word.
Experience in or familiarity with AutoCAD, Photoshop, Microsoft Outlook, and Excel.
It is preferred if you have experience in or familiarity with other Adobe Creative Cloud Suite programs, Microsoft Teams, and/or Procore.

Location
This role is not remote. We look forward to working with our new Project Designer on-site in our One Loudoun office.
Expectation
Whitsitt IA full-time professionals are expected to be in-office Monday through Friday for the core work hours of 9am-5pm unless time out of the office is scheduled in advance.

Travel
We have active and upcoming projects across the contiguous 48 states. You may be expected to travel to various sites with your project team as dictated by project requirements.
