Title/Position: Program Director Reporting to: CEO

Position Summary:

The Program Director reports directly to the CEO and is responsible for the overall management, administration, and operation of the agency's Supported and Independent Living Programs for adults with developmental disabilities. The Program Director will oversee a team of staff members and ensure program compliance with state and federal regulations. They will also develop and maintain relationships with community partners, participate in budget development and management, and represent the agency at relevant meetings and events.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Leadership and Staff Management:
  • Hire, train, and mentor staff members, providing leadership, supervision, and support.
  • Foster open communication and collaboration within the team, involving them in decision-making responsibilities.
  • Assess and manage program risks, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for clients and staff.
  • Provide direct support as needed when understaffed.
  • Rotate on a 24/7 on call basis

Program Development and Implementation:
  • Develop and implement program policies, procedures, training, and goals in accordance with state and federal regulations.
  • Set goals for the programs, track progress, setbacks, and overall performance, and analyze program results.
  • Seek out new and creative program ideas, implementing innovative approaches to enhance services.

Program Evaluation and Compliance:
  • Monitor and evaluate program services and outcomes, ensuring high-quality care and adherence to regulations.
  • Familiarity with individual service plans for clients. Participate in the development of individual service plans for clients, promoting person-centered thinking.
  • Ensure program compliance with state and federal regulations related to developmental disabilities.

Community Engagement and Partnerships:
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community partners, including funding sources and other service providers.
  • Represent the agency at relevant community meetings and events, advocating for the needs of clients and the organization.

Budget Management and Funding:
  • Participate in budget development and management, ensuring efficient utilization of resources.
  • Help secure and manage program funding, working collaboratively with the CEO and other stakeholders.

Strategic Vision and Mission Alignment:
  • Provide strategic vision and strong leadership while directing the programs, ensuring they align with the organization's mission.
  • Work collaboratively with directors to develop ideas for growing the agency and maintaining the quality of services.

Communication and Documentation:
  • Maintain exceptional communication skills, both oral and written, to effectively interact with stakeholders.
  • Utilize Microsoft Suite (Excel, Outlook, Access, etc.) proficiently for documentation and reporting purposes.

Organizational Skills:
  • Demonstrate excellent organizational skills and attention to detail to effectively manage program operations and processes.
  • Collaborate with directors and executives for agency operations.

Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Special Education, or a related field. Master's Degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in program management, preferably in the field of developmental disabilities.
  • Extensive knowledge of state and federal regulations related to developmental disabilities.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate, inspire and lead a team by example.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of the Regional Center System and experience working within it.
  • Training or familiarity with Person-Centered Thinking.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Suite (Excel, Outlook, Access, etc.).
  • Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Skilled with collaboration, team leadership and conflict resolution.
