Our client, a leading environmental and engineering consulting firm, is seeking a Senior Environmental Air Quality Manager to provide air permitting and compliance services to sectors such as power, industrial, commercial, oil and gas, transportation, and manufacturing in the Midwest region This position offers opportunities for challenging, varied projects and career growth within a highly successful and expanding Air & Noise practice, and is hybrid in a few locations including Chicago.
The Senior Environmental Air Quality Manager will be responsible for:
Preparing air permit applications for large-scale projects, including Prevention of Significant Deterioration (PSD) and Title V permits.
Keeping updated with air permitting requirements, emission estimation methods, and regulatory changes.
Managing complex industrial operations, with refining experience being an advantage.
Ensuring successful project delivery, quality assurance, and financial performance.
Providing mentorship to junior staff members.
Engaging with clients, agency officials, and external stakeholders, including potential international partnerships.
Mentoring and leading junior staff.
Possessing specific knowledge and ability to build strong client relationships.
Demonstrated knowledge of federal, state, and local air regulations with emphasis on the Clean Air Act, including New Source Review/Prevention of Significant Deterioration, National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants, New Source Performance Standards, Title V Permitting, Title VI Ozone Depleting Substances.
Working knowledge of air quality dispersion models such as AERMOD, AERSCREEN, CALPUFF, VISCREEN, PLUVUE and SLAB, is a plus.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or Engineering with a minimum of 7-8 years of experience.
- A master's degree can substitute for one year of experience.
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with air quality consulting, project management, and regulatory compliance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and a valid driver's license required.
