As the CVC Associate, Energy/Climate Tech for the West Coast region, you will be instrumental in sourcing and proposing unique technology and business opportunities for investment and collaboration, spanning from R&D to new business development. This position requires a proactive and driven individual with a robust network in the venture capital and corporate venture capital communities.
Responsibilities:
70% Strategic Investment: Source, identify, propose, and lead investment opportunities with the Corporate Venturing team.
30% Network Expansion: Focus on expanding your network and enhancing brand awareness within the West Coast region.
Utilize tools like Pitchbook and Crunchbase to source relevant East Coast deal flow.
Lead the internal investment process for selected deals and identify high-quality investment opportunities involving transformational technologies.
Develop, broaden, and strengthen your network of VC/CVC's startups, and related entities.
Create and present investment proposals weekly to relevant team and stakeholders.
Act as the primary interface for portfolio companies and support internal open innovation startup collaborations.
Required Skillset:
3-5+ years of experience on a corporate venture capital (CVC) or venture capital (VC) team.
Expertise in at least two of the following: CASE, Mobility, Energy, Climate Technology, Smart City, Automotive/Transportation.
A strong network within the venture capital community in the West Coast.
Demonstrated ability to multitask, manage multiple work streams, and close early-stage investments.
Adept at ramping up technical knowledge quickly and handling a dynamic work environment.
Experience in corporate open innovation, venture investment, and/or accelerator/incubator programs.
Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, business, or a related field.
Bonus Skillset:
Corporate development and/or financial experience.
Formal investment due diligence experience.
Master's degree in science or engineering and/or an MBA.
Familiarity with Japanese business culture and practices, beneficial for regular interaction with the Japan team.
Location: Mountain View, CA. (Hybrid, 3x minimum onsite)
Travel: Domestic and international travel up to 30% may be required.
Type: Contract to hire (6+ months)
