HARRISON GREEN is an established Landscape Design/Installation/Maintenance company specializing in the creation of bespoke, livable outdoor spaces. From our Bushwick, Brooklyn Studio, Warehouse and Nursery, we work on exciting residential and hospitality projects of all scales throughout New York City.
We are currently seeking a motivated, experienced, and highly organized construction professional to join our team as the firm's Director of Construction.
The Director of Construction leads the installation department and is responsible for overseeing the execution of all built work, ensuring each project is delivered to HARRISON GREEN's high standard of excellence. The responsibilities of the role are split between both Department Management (i.e. efficiently and respectfully manage the installation team as well as our sub-contractors and vendors) and Project Management (i.e. strategic planning and scheduling to ensure project milestones are met and approved budgets are adhered to). Comprehensive knowledge of general construction stemming from extensive 'real world' experience in NYC is paramount. Horticultural experience is preferred but not required.
Qualified candidates will be comfortable in a fast-paced work environment managing projects that require close attention to detail. This position reports to the company's Principals and is a critical link between the Design and Maintenance departments. The success of this role depends heavily upon close collaboration with our entire tight-knit team as well as our amazing clients and collaborators.
Requirements:
Professional Experience:
Minimum 10 years of professional experience in the AEC industry, preferably in NYC with specific demonstrated experience as either a GC, Foreman or Construction Project Manager;
'Real world' construction experience on complex projects - you know how things get built in NYC!
Specific landscape and horticultural experience a plus though not required;
Proven ability to lead a team with an understanding of the importance of leading by example;
Demonstrated ability to review plans and specifications and in-progress field work, and to identify construction issues and proactively provide solutions;
Demonstrated experience with project, team and consultant management and scheduling, ensuring milestones are met in a cohesive, organized fashion through duration of construction;
Demonstrated ability to make strategic on-site adjustments to schedules and workflow based on unforeseen project challenges/issues;
Strong time management, critical thinking and organizational skills
Eager to actively contribute to and help shape our culture of design and installation
Exemplary verbal and written communication skills:
Team player able to work with all colleagues in a collaborative studio environment and in on-site locations;
Demonstrated ability to effectively lead and participate in client and consultant meetings;
Trustworthy and able to maintain confidentiality
Strong technical skills:
Documentation: AutoCAD;
Project & Team Management: Microsoft Office Suite; Clockshark and Smartsheet preferred, but not required;
Graphics: Adobe Creative Suite, preferred, but not required
