What You'll Do:
Provide day-to-day global legal advice and counseling regarding discrimination, harassment, retaliation, reasonable accommodations, leaves of absence, hiring, internal investigations, performance management and discharge, wage and hour compliance, employee data privacy, non-compete, non-solicitation and non-disclosure agreements, employment and severance agreements, arbitration agreements and other employment issues, such as diversity and inclusion, workers' compensation and immigration matters
Manage all litigation (both class action and single plaintiff claims) related to business and employment defense
Engage in settlement negotiations and mediations
Handle responses to attorney demand letters, subpoenas, government agency investigations, audits and administrative charges
Monitor and ensure compliance related to employment laws across relevant jurisdictions, including international, federal, state and local
Assist in the development, implementation, and enforcement of company policies and compliance efforts, including HR systems, processes and procedures
Develop and deliver employee training programs
Partner in the management and oversight of outside counsel engagements for applicable matters
Review, edit and negotiate vendor and consultant agreements
Assist with other legal matters as required
You'll Need to Have:
J.D. from accredited law school and member in good standing of at least one bar
Minimum 5-8 years' experience working as an employment/litigation lawyer; combination of law firm and in-house experience preferred
Experience counseling large and global employers on employment matters (retail experience a plus)
Experience in all phases of litigation (including arbitration), from discovery through trial
Ability to travel domestically to mediations and depositions is required
We'd Love to See:
Knowledge of CA and EMEA employment laws is a plus
Strong analytical skills; ability to demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations
Ability to be a strategic and cross-functional partner to the business; creative problem-solving a must
Ability to operate in fast-paced environment with a very high level of autonomy
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, ability to manage multiple projects at once, follow through and meet deadlines
Outstanding communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
Flexible and able to adapt to changing needs and time pressures
