We've been asked by a premier Landscaping company in Westfield, IN to help them find a Landscape, Nursery, or Turf Purchasing/Buyer Specialist

Our client is seeking candidates who are local to the greater Indianapolis area.

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Purchasing/Buyer Specialist with experience purchasing and managing inventory for plants, turf, mulch, supplies and everything needed for a commercial landscape company. In this role you will ensure efficient material procurement and effective inventory management for approximately $8MM - $10MM, as well as foster strong vendor relationships.

Compensation: $60K - $65K. This is a direct hire opportunity

What will you do as the Purchasing Specialist?
  • Assist in sourcing and purchasing materials required for landscaping projects, ensuring timely availability to meet project deadlines.
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels, conducting regular audits to ensure accuracy and optimize stock levels.
  • Maintain and expand relationships with existing vendors, negotiating terms and pricing to secure favorable deals.
  • Work closely with the Controller and other departments to align purchasing activities with project needs and company goals.
  • Prepare and maintain reports on purchasing activities, inventory status, and vendor performance.

What qualifications will you have as the Purchasing Specialist?
  • 1-3 years of experience in purchasing or procurement within the landscaping or a related industry preferred.
  • Familiarity with vendor management and purchasing practices, along with a solid understanding of inventory management principles.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Sense of urgency to complete tasks/requests.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with inventory management software is a plus.
