Job Summary:
The Plant Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of plant operations, ensuring efficient production processes, managing resources effectively, and maintaining a strong culture of leadership, teamwork, and continuous improvement. This role requires a hands-on leader who will foster a culture of servant leadership and accountability, while also managing the day-to-day operational performance of the plant.

Operational Management:
Forecasting and Production Control:
Develop accurate production control models to predict and address constraints (e.g., labor, overtime, material shortages).
Establish labor and material budgets, and forecast needs for sub-manufacturing and overtime.
Coordinate closely with the sales and engineering teams to align product pricing, lead times, and delivery priorities.
Safety and Quality Management:
Develop and enforce safety training programs and standards, ensuring adherence to OSHA requirements and incident reporting.
Implement and monitor quality control systems to ensure conformance to purchase orders and fabrication drawings.
Oversee preventive maintenance for buildings, facilities, and equipment to ensure safe, reliable operations.
Financial Management:
Prepare and manage monthly financial reports, including completed job costs, work-in-progress (WIP), and inventory.
Develop, monitor, and manage manufacturing budgets and financial initiatives.
Provide data-based justifications for capital purchases, and manage the purchase and implementation process.
Inventory and Resource Management:
Manage inventory levels, purchasing, and supplier performance.
Oversee purchase orders, invoicing, and payroll functions as required by the Accounting department.
Team Development and Human Resources:
Recruit, hire, and onboard employees in alignment with organizational needs.
Conduct annual performance reviews and implement employee training programs.
Manage employee benefit communications and ensure compliance with the employee handbook.
Address personnel issues in collaboration with the Jacksonville HR team, when necessary.
Optimization and Continuous Improvement:
Efficiency and Productivity:
Implement data-driven systems to track and optimize productivity and process standards.
Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate production throughput, quality, and profitability.
Identify process bottlenecks and make adjustments to equipment, personnel, and workflow to improve throughput and reduce costs.
Process Improvement:
Continuously evaluate and implement best practices in production management and lean manufacturing.
Ensure that production goals are met within set timeframes and budgets.
Qualifications:
Experience:
Proven experience as a Plant Manager, preferably in the sheet metal/steel fabrication industry.
Strong understanding of business and management principles, including budgeting, resource allocation, and human resource management.
Skills:
Strong leadership, operations management, and people management skills.
Ability to manage production processes and optimize workflows.
Knowledge of lean manufacturing practices and continuous improvement.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficient in computer software for data analysis, reporting, and problem-solving.
