Designing precision motion stages and components, electromechanical system parts, and
assemblies in a CAD environment. SolidWorks preferred.
Generating drawings for parts and assemblies.
Modeling and simulation of design components, such as dynamic system modeling, kinematic modeling, and structural, and thermal analysis.
Building prototypes.
Supporting production tasks, such as inspections, troubleshooting assemblies, and testing.
Writing and updating work instructions per production and quality feedback.
Finding and managing vendors for prototyping and manufacturing.
Creating test fixtures including instrumenting with data acquisition systems and programming.
Unit and system testing of prototype designs.
Supporting production for method sheet creation, tooling, and process qualification.
Qualifications
BSc. in Mechanical, Aerospace, Biomedical Engineering or in an equivalent area
5+ years of experience in the field
Exposure to software such as Python, MATLAB, C++, HTML
Design experience for gantry systems and motion systems
Design experience with custom flexible features such as spring
Competency in designing large electromechanical systems
Experience with large assembly models
Experience with troubleshooting complex electromechanical systems
Proven design record
Analytical problem-solving skills, such as modeling and simulations
Ability to plan, prepare and perform all aspects of product development from ideation to modeling to make production-level drawings, testing, and production ramp-up
Understanding of Linux systems and comfortable with utilizing in-house software for testing and debugging
Understanding of electrical systems, wiring, and design for PCB fixturing and enclosures
