Our programming includes critical technology & venture creation, lab-to-market commercialization, and direct funding and contracting support to develop prototypes, training and support for entrepreneurs and the tech workforce needed to ensure these startups and our mission partners succeed.
The Consulting Engagement Manager plays a crucial role in establishing and managing relationships with entrepreneurs and startups to ensure that consulting projects are executed successfully. A successful Consulting Engagement Manager will leverage their knowledge of the defense innovation ecosystem and their experience in consulting project management to develop and deliver support services that meet objectives and are completed on time and within budget.
Specific responsibilities include:
? Cultivate and maintain a robust pipeline of and strong relationships with founders, startups, and small businesses within the regional defense innovation ecosystem.
? Serve as the primary point of contact for the client, addressing questions, updates, and any concerns throughout the project lifecycle.
? Identify the specific suite of services provided to each client, and track and manage all project objectives, deliverables, and scope.
? Develop and maintain the roadmap for startups to guide them on their journey from their current state through their successful outcome.
? Manage interactions with entrepreneurs and founders on their journey through the start-up road map, scheduling regular check-in meetings, and providing direct support as needed. Support may include, but is not limited to:
o one-on-one coaching from subject matter experts
o recommendations for trainings
o assistance developing marketing materials and pitches
o identifying and securing a pipeline for funding opportunities
? Monitor the project timeline and budget to ensure the project remains on schedule and within financial limits.
? Collect and analyze data from engagements across the ecosystem to identify gaps in resources and programming; provide quarterly reports on these gaps to inform the design, development, and delivery of new programs and events.
? Identify, monitor, analyze and report on impact metrics and activities within the regional defense innovation ecosystem.
? Assist in the selection, examination and assessment of new startup technologies to meet Mission Partner needs.
? Participate in and attend important industry events to drive awareness of our programs and develop new relationships.
In addition to possessing experience with each area of responsibility listed above, the Consulting Engagement Manager will have the following skills:
? Strong communication skills
? Knowledge of various collaboration and project management tools, including Salesforce CRM
? Intimate knowledge of the venture capital industry
? Strong decision-making skills
? Exceptional leadership skills and experience managing direct reports
? Experience managing cross-functional teams and interdisciplinary teams to achieve a shared goal
? Ability to prioritize multiple projects at one time
