The Vice President of Labor Relations & Market Development (VP, LRMD) plays a critical role in shaping the labor and market strategies that define our association's success. Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Advocacy and Inudstry Policy, and serving as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), the VP, LRMD is entrusted with ensuring the effectiveness and operational excellence of our labor relations programs. This role involves leading a dedicated team to develop and implement strategies that strengthen labor relations, support union contractors, and advocate for progressive labor policies at both state and national levels.
With a hands-on approach, the VP, LRMD will not only guide internal initiatives but will also be a recognized voice on labor issues across California and the country. Engaging with industry leaders, government agencies, and partner organizations, the VP, LRMD will advocate for the association's strategic goals and provide essential technical assistance to association committees. This position also prioritizes fostering a high-performance culture through staff development and continuous improvement, making an impactful contribution to the organization's core values of "Lead," "Engage," and "Grow."

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Executive Leadership Team (ELT)
Be an active member of the "First Team" by engaging and contributing to the overall development of the culture, vision, and strategies of the organization.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with other ELT members and association volunteer leaders.
Actively model the highest standards of the organization, including our core values of "Lead," "Engage," and "Grow."
Be committed to the whole association and help develop an interdependence model in each team that supports the association's global goals, not just individual team goals.
Represent the association and CEO both internally and externally through presentations, interviews, publications, and trainings.
Labor Relations
Develop and implement strategies and goals for the labor relations team that support the engagement and growth of union/signatory contractors within the association.
Foster deeper relationships with the association's membership and volunteer leaders.
Supervise and manage labor relations team performance.
Proactively position the association as a thought leader in the labor/industrial relations market both in California and nationally.
Monitor, advise, and comment on legislation and policies that affect the labor/industrial markets & agencies, union/signatory contractors, and union partners.
Develops fee-for-service and other revenue opportunities and aids in existing fee-for-service programs as directed by the CEO, ELT, and/or state board.
Participates in outside committees as directed, i.e., trust funds, labor-management committees, industry organizations, etc.
Market Development
Researches and engages with internal and external stakeholders and think tanks to develop strategies and insights on the challenges and opportunities facing labor markets in California and the country.
Tracks economic and market data to advance opportunities for union/signatory contractors in California and the country.
Create original content in relationship to markets, both current and emerging that can position the association as the thought leader in California and nationally.
Ancillary Functions
Attend association events.
This role is expected to travel 25%-33% time.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
The VP,LRMD oversees a team that includes the Senior Director of Field Services & Compliance for Northern California, the Director of Field Services & Compliance for Southern California, the Director of Labor Relations for Northern California, the Director of Labor Relations for Southern California, and any additional support staff as assigned.
