The Millwork Department Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the millwork operations, ensuring that the production process runs smoothly, efficiently, and cost-effectively while maintaining the highest quality standards. This role involves managing a team of skilled professionals, coordinating with other departments, and ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget. Responsibilities:
Operational Oversight / Management
Oversee the entire millwork production process, from material procurement to final product delivery.
Ensure production schedules are met, and quality standards are maintained.
Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) to enhance productivity and efficiency.
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of millwork personnel.
Foster a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching and feedback.
Project Estimating & Management
Provide accurate millwork estimates for all projects.
Collaborate with project managers, architects, and designers to ensure millwork meets project specifications and timelines.
Monitor project budgets, control costs, and ensure projects are delivered on time.
Address any issues or challenges that arise during the production process.
Quality Control / Safety & Compliance
Establish and enforce quality control standards to ensure all products meet company and industry standards.
Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify areas for improvement.
Implement corrective actions to address any quality issues.
Ensure all operations comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Promote a culture of safety and ensure all employees are trained in safety protocols.
Conduct regular safety audits and address any areas of concern.
Budgeting and Financial Management
Develop and manage the millwork department's budget, including labor, materials, and overhead costs.
Monitor financial performance and implement cost-saving measures.
Prepare regular financial reports for senior management.
Innovation and Process Improvement
Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement new technologies and methodologies.
Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices.
Lead initiatives to enhance product offerings and increase market competitiveness.
Client Relations
Maintain relationships with clients, ensuring their needs and expectations are met.
Address client concerns and provide solutions to any issues that arise.
Resource Management
Manage inventory levels and ensure the timely procurement of materials.
Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to ensure the availability of quality materials at competitive prices.
Optimize the use of resources, including labor, materials, and equipment.
Requirements:
A minimum of 8 years of experience in millwork or related fields, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
Strong understanding of millwork production processes, materials, and equipment.
Proven experience in managing large-scale millwork projects from start to finish.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Proficient in project management software and other relevant tools.
