Based in Northbrook, Illinois, speroMD serves hundreds of physicians and clinicians across the country. They are physician advocates, using the powerful tools and features of modern EHR software to ensure physician clients receive the full payment they have earned. Today speroMD is providing revenue cycle management services to 12 clients across the US and growing through positive results. speroMD staff consists of more than 55 people with decades of coding and billing experience in numerous specialties and within different instances of Epic and other EHR and practice management systems.

They specialize in maximizing the collection of revenue physicians have earned for the services they have provided through comprehensive charge review, and tenacious pursuit of the full payment due. Their mission is to help practices devote more time to the care of their patients.

Company History

In 2012, a group of seven independent medical practices joined together to provide exceptional patient care and maintain practice autonomy. Since then, they've grown to incorporate 12 groups and over 70 physicians and clinicians. Driven by their own revenue cycle success, these business-minded physicians formed speroMD in 2015 to share their expertise in medical billing and office efficacy with other physician groups.

The Opportunity

Purpose of the Position

The Director Revenue Cycle management is responsible for overseeing revenue activities, organizing strategies to increase profitability and meeting all financial objectives for all clients. Oversees the medical billing operation to ensure effective management of receivables are both efficient and compliant. The Director Revenue Cycle is responsible for continually improving systems and processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • In charge for exploring business opportunities based on careful research, as well as reviewing billing activities.
  • Oversees the medical billing operation including, abstract coding, billing, claims, insurance/patient AR, cash posting for the company to allow for maximization of revenue while ensuring compliance with all pertinent company and regulatory requirements, policies and guidelines.
  • Monitors projections based on past financial results and adjusts outlooks for future milestones.
  • Analyzes payer trends and modifies follow up expectations as needed.
  • Collaborates with management team to improve information documentation and implement the best practices.
  • Leads and provides directions for revenue cycle management and determines goals.
  • Develops and defines department goals, procedures, and objectives.
  • Develops and monitors revenue cycle performance metrics to drive continuous improvement efforts in all areas of the revenue cycle. Provides regular updates to senior management to ensure prompt attentions to areas of concern.
  • Shares evolving revenue cycle management related trends with leadership.
  • Models and supports speroMD's Core Values and coaches others to do the same.

The Candidate

Experience and Professional Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree is required.
  • 7 + years leadership experience with minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in Revenue cycle management/medical billing management experience required
  • Knowledge of Epic and/or other EHR systems required
  • Knowledge of out of network and managed care reimbursement techniques.
  • Knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 preferred

Skills and Competencies
  • Strong knowledge and level of comfort with computer systems and software required
  • Ability to communicate effectively, work independently and balance multiple priorities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and high level of organizational skills required
