This position verifies records and prioritizes incoming material samples; performs directs the performance or monitors the performance of all aspects of standardized and specific materials testing; and conducts or directs difficult non-routine tests for special studies, circumstances, and investigations. Other duties include:
Performs calculations, generates, and distributes reports providing required documentation on test processes and results.
Completes analysis and interpretation of test results to determine if additional testing is required, materials meet specifications and tolerances.
Maintains, tests, and calibrates and documents materials lab equipment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Four years of experience performing materials testing.
OR
Three years of experience performing materials testing or related activities and one (1) year of experience in roadway construction, engineering support or roadways maintenance areas.
A two-year Civil Technology degree or equivalent can be credited for one year of related experience.
Certification in Aggregate Production Tester (formerly Aggregate Production), Grading and Base Tester (formerly Grading and Base 1), Bituminous Plant Tester (formerly Bituminous Plant 1), Bituminous Street Inspector (formerly Bituminous Street 1), Concrete Field Tester (formerly Concrete Field 1) or ACI Field Grade 1, Concrete Plant Tester (formerly Concrete Plant 1) as required by Federal Highway Administration QC/QA standards.
