The Project Controls Cost Specialist will provide cost engineering and analysis for mid-sized capital projects within the Engineering Department, ranging from $10MM to $50MM. This role is critical in supporting Front-End Engineering and Design (FEL) phases 1, 2, and 3. The ideal candidate will be an active team member providing key input and analysis to project management, helping guide decision-making to ensure project success.
Primary Responsibilities:
Collaborate with project teams to establish a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and overall project plan.
Partner with external engineering firms to ensure adherence to cost control expectations and deliverables.
Conduct regular visits to engineering firms to provide leadership and maintain strong relationships.
Develop and review project cost estimates, establish control budgets, and align construction budgets with schedules.
Work with Project Managers to plan cash flows, forecast costs, and monitor project expenditures.
Report monthly cost forecasts to local Engineering Leadership.
Manage project set-up and work orders using Integrated Project System (IPS).
Support budgeting, cash flow planning, and schedule alignment in collaboration with the Project Manager.
Calculate monthly accruals and collaborate with the Accounting department.
Interface with Supply Chain and EPC for equipment progress payments and accruals.
Evaluate project risks and communicate cost or schedule impacts to management.
Analyze project schedules and highlight areas of concern or risk.
Facilitate project closeout procedures and provide end-of-project reporting to department leadership.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Construction/Project Management, Engineering, Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting (preferred).
Minimum of 5 years of experience in Project/Cost Control, specifically within EPC capital projects.
Strong background in Front-End Engineering phases (FEL 1, 2, 3) with mid-major projects.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Familiarity with IPS, SAP, Primavera P6, or Icarus is a plus.
Exceptional communication and reporting skills, with the ability to present data to management.
Strong analytical skills with experience in cost forecasting and schedule analysis.
Experience in field implementation of industrial EPC projects.
Capability to use Power BI for data visualization and reporting
