Job Title: MEP Technical Coordinator - HVAC, Chiller, Cooler, and Control Systems.
Type of Employment: This is a contract position for the first 12 months with the potential to extend the contract or convert to a W-2 permanent employee.
Schedule: Candidate will work 3 weeks on-site and 1 week from home.
Location: Las Vegas, NV. Candidates must be willing to travel to other jobsites as needed (VA, GA, AZ, TX, IA, etc.).
The MEP Technical Coordinator is responsible for working with the customer as electrical equipment (UPS and Switchgear, Chillers) is being installed at the customer while also being a primary resource for mechanical and control troubleshooting and developing solutions. This particular person will also be looked to for expertise with the mechanical side (HVAC) and the controls. They will need to be able to troubleshoot. They will be a key representative of the client onsite and with a roughly 65/35 technical/coordination split. While having a primary site of focus, they may be asked to travel to other sites to aid in advanced mechanical and control situations.
Responsibilities:
Heavy integration and getting it to the right point to talk and communicate with the owners control system
Troubleshooting if the system is NOT talking, why not?
Diagnosing a program issue or an equipment/hardware issue (is it wired right?).
Take the front end, rip it out, and update it to a whole new platform.
Remove an obsolete control system, make it talk, and make it fit with the existing devices
Start the HVAC equipment and make it talk to the owner's control system
Work with onsite commissioning agent to oversee commissioning of chillers (coordination, getting it ready).
Communication: Facilitating communication among project stakeholders and attending a centralized platform for discussions and issue resolution.
Quality Assurance: verification processes to ensure that systems meet project requirements including installation means and methods
Coordinate project schedule with all business units and scheduler
Manage large project sites and ensure timely completion of work.
Act as the single point of contact for project status by maintaining communication with internal and external stakeholders including project manager teams.
Manage project status and information in the form of formal briefings, on the weekly MEP call
Attend regular project meetings to address action items and project schedule.
Understand site safety including LOTO and PPE
Required Skills:
Experience working with advanced mechanical systems (chillers, chilled water piping, VAVs, CRAHs, AHUs)
HVAC interface experience
Experience retrofitting the control side (industrial setting pref.)
Understanding of Energy Power Monitoring System (EPMS, similar to SCADA)
Configuration of communication card experience
Experience managing large, high-profile projects
Adept at reading blueprints and associated building information.
Ability to rapidly understand business objectives and combine them with a deep understanding of project management to create, sell, and drive effective solutions.
Ability to work effectively with co-workers across all business units.
Understanding of customer needs; excellent communication and follow-through necessary to satisfy customer requests.
Strategic thinker and problem solver.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft, projects, workbooks, excel, word and outlook
Willing to travel in the North American region
Represents client in a professional manner, self-motivated productive, and enthusiastic team member
Must be dependable to achieve the target within the established time frames
Preferred Qualifications/Experience
Installation and field experience in the electrical industry including data center work, or
commissioning data center equipment, or energy marshal on data center work, or data center installation FSR-type work.
