The Cato Corporation is seeking an experienced System Administrator to join our IT team!
JOB SUMMARY:
The System Administrator is responsible for providing advanced level support to the following systems and services: UNIX (AIX), Linux (RHEL), Storage Area Network (SAN), Network File System (NFS), and Backup/Recovery. In addition to working with other members of the IT team to quickly resolve and avert issues to the production environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Install, configure and troubleshoot AIX and RHEL Operating System related issues
Strong understanding and background in Korn Shell and Perl scripting
Ensure systems are kept up to date by researching and deploying necessary patches and updates
Perform regular system maintenance and health checks, monitor system performance and implement tuning measures
Support and Manage Dell/EMC PowerMax storage system
Design/implement backup solutions, establish backup requirements and retention policies
Demonstrate a strong understanding of SAN and NFS
Exhibit excellent research skills with a strong focus on testing implementations before executing in production
Escalate concerns to hardware and software vendors to resolve issues as required
Maintain documentation of system configurations, procedures, and modifications
Demonstrate a thorough understanding and knowledge of networking essentials
Collaborate with IT team members to ensure systems functionality meets business requirements
Function as part of a 24/7 on-call support rotation
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
BS or BA Degree in Information Technology or equivalent field related experience
5 to 7 years of experience in Information Technology with 5 years or greater in the role of System Administrator
Systems: IBM Power Systems, IBM HMC, Dell/EMC, PowerMax
Software: AIX, Linux, AIX OS Systems Backup, VMWare ESXi, Dell/EMC Networker, Oracle Database
