Ideal candidate will lead in the planning, design, development, implementation, and execution Linux systems engineering for the Charter Datacenter. Drives identification and adoption of best-in-class development. Designs, develops, and implements platform enhancements and makes recommendations for improvements.
Must-Haves: • Lead and manage the Linux "golden image" initiative across Charter • Extensive UNIX/Linux engineering experience, serving as a Linux SME • Strong skills in Linux engineering, troubleshooting, testing, hardening, and performance tuning • Deep understanding of the Linux Kernel and package management (Artifactory, Satellite Server) • Proficient with RPM tools (ip, dnf, nmcli) and apt, Ubiquity, Debian installer, and UFW • Skilled in YAML, JSON, and automation/scripting (Perl, Bash, Python) • Experience with configuration management (Puppet, Chef) and Linux file-systems design and optimization • DevOps experience with Ansible, Terraform, VMware tools, and HashiCorp Vault/Packer • Familiar with CIS Workbench hardening, Linux Test Project, and TestRail • Strong problem-solving skills; proficient in creating technical schematics (Lucidchart, Visio) • GitLab experience with workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and variable settings • SAFe/Agile experience with Jira Portfolio/Jira Align for project and task management
