Title: Mechanical Engineer

Location: Decatur, IL (100% Onsite)

Employment Type: Fulltime Permanent with AXISCADES.

Position Overview

The Engineer will focus on product validation, equipment design, and development within the manufacturing engineering function. This role involves designing and validating mechanical components and systems, particularly automotive braking systems, and collaborating with suppliers and internal teams to optimize test equipment. The engineer will also conduct feasibility studies, ensure adherence to safety and quality standards, and work closely with cross-functional teams to meet project objectives and timelines.

Job Responsibilities

Design and validate mechanical components and systems, especially related to automotive braking systems.

Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to develop and optimize test equipment.

Implement changes to test setups and equipment based on validation outcomes.

Conduct feasibility studies for equipment and component integration.

Use software tools to gather, analyze, and interpret data from tests.

Ensure all equipment and processes adhere to safety and quality standards.

Work closely with cross-functional teams to achieve project objectives and timelines.

Education & Experience Required

Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

2-5 years of experience as a Product Design Engineer, preferably in automotive or mechanical equipment sectors.

Prior experience with DAQ systems, MATLAB, and similar tools for data processing and analysis.

Hands-on experience in a testing environment, with a strong understanding of mechanical and thermal properties of materials.

Technical Skills Required

Strong analytical skills to interpret test data and make informed decisions.

Ability to design, setup, and validate test apparatus and components.

Knowledge of fluid dynamics, especially related to coolant and oil flow rates in turbocharged systems.

Technical Skills Desired

Experience with WME software or similar test management tools.

Capability to manage and process large sets of data effectively.

Soft Skills

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Strong problem-solving capabilities.

Proactive and able to work independently or as part of a team.

Open to learning and adapting to new tools and technologies.
