Job Title: Site Enablement Officer

Start date: Immediate

Duration: 6 month maternity leave cover

Are you looking to play a part in the US' advance into the offshore wind industry? Our client has a requirement for a Site Enablement Officer to join them on a contract role, playing a key role in the delivery of offshore wind power capacity to the US Northeastern grids. These roles are open to all US residents, but additional sponsorship cannot be provided.

This position is for maternity leave coverage for a duration of 6 months. Based primarily reporting to the Boston office, you will travel to multiple locations. This is an immediate start.

What We Do:

The Site Enablement team specializes in network management and support. We are committed to ensuring robust connectivity and infrastructure across our operations. The consultant will play a crucial role in maintaining and expanding our network capabilities while ensuring high availability and minimal disruptions.

Hard Skills Required:

Basic Network Knowledge: Understanding of routing, switching, and wireless.

Hardware Proficiency: Familiarity with Cisco routers, switches, access points. Identifying the correct data ports, configuring, installing, etc.

Cabling Knowledge: Expertise in cable types (Cat6a, fiber types), uses of SFPs, cable tracing, and testing ports. Also need experience with cable management inside racks.

Tool Usage: Proficiency in using tools like cable testers and WiFi scanners to troubleshoot network issues.

Technical Oriented Management Systems: Proficiency in ServiceNow, Solarwinds, ITIL, and Azure DevOps is necessary.

Soft Skills:

Organization: Keeping track of necessary cables, access credentials, passwords, etc.

Travel Readiness: Ability to travel to sites on rare occasions or as needed. Flexibility to handle unexpected travel. Participate in daily operations along with the Site Enablement Team in US timezones.

Vendor Coordination: Ability to manage and coordinate multiple vendors and stakeholders (ISP, electricians, building managers, equipment vendors, SDM, security team, business users) simultaneously.

Pressure Management: Staying calm in a high pressure environment.

Problem Solving: Being resourceful in addressing uncommon issues without rushing, which can lead to mistakes.

Flexible Working Hours: Willingness to work late hours when necessary, as some changes can only be implemented after business hours.

Tools:

ServiceNow: For managing incidents, service requests, and tracking both stock and vendor info.

ITIL Framework: For structured IT service management.

Azure DevOps: For project management and CI/CD pipelines.

Cable Testers, WiFi Scanners: For diagnosing and resolving physical connectivity issues.

Solarwinds: Monitoring all devices and checking for device availability.

DNAC: Configuring and monitoring network equipment

Projects:

The consultant will be expected to contribute to:

New Sites: Setting up network infrastructure in new locations. Configuring DHCP, DNS, creating and updating Visio diagrams, configuring Cisco routers and switches, cable and install equipment on site, establish appropriate documentation and monitoring.

Maintaining Sites: Regular maintenance and updates to existing network setups. Life cycling old equipment, coordinating down time with the business to push updates and changes.

Troubleshooting Sites: Working directly with the business to address and resolve any network issues as they arise. Coordinating with ISPs if there are any planned or unplanned outages.

Operations:

The consultant will be involved in daily management and operational troubleshooting. Necessary that consultant keeps up with the global network team to be aware of updates and changes to global strategy.

They will participate in the onboarding of new colleagues, sharing knowledge and facilitating their integration into the team.

Availability:

While most work will happen during normal working hours, travel time is expected. The estimated amount of travel time approximates to 70%. Furthermore, the consultant needs to participate in daily operations and, therefore, be available and work doing extended during extended hours, supported by the teammates in Malaysia and Denmark. No night work required.
