Octant Associates is seeking a highly skilled Rocket Analyst with experience in ballistic missile delivery systems to support the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) and Security and Elimination (S&E) Department. The successful candidate will provide technical expertise in the analysis, evaluation, and assessment of missile threats, focusing on ballistic missile technologies, propulsion systems, and warhead delivery mechanisms. The Rocket Analyst will work closely with DTRA's mission to counter weapons of mass destruction (WMD) by ensuring accurate intelligence, advanced threat detection, and risk mitigation strategies.
Responsibilities:
Conduct detailed analysis of ballistic missile delivery systems, including propulsion, guidance, warhead deployment, and reentry capabilities.
Assess and evaluate missile threats, including short, medium, and intercontinental ballistic missiles (SRBM, MRBM, ICBM), and other missile delivery technologies.
Provide technical recommendations and support to DTRA programs focusing on the reduction of WMD threats posed by missile delivery systems.
Work closely with DTRA scientists, engineers, and intelligence experts to assess missile capabilities of adversarial nations and non-state actors.
Develop disablement and destruction methods, procedures and training for the ballistic missile enterprise consisting of delivery systems, launch systems, manufacturing facilities and equipment, launch facilities and test facilities.
Prepare technical reports, briefings, and presentations for senior leadership within DTRA and other Department of Defense (DoD) agencies.
Support interagency collaboration efforts to counter WMD threats, working with the U.S. military, intelligence community, and international partners.
Stay current on emerging missile technologies, propulsion systems, and delivery mechanisms that could pose a threat to U.S. and allied security.
Provide expertise in missile testing, modeling, and simulation for missile threat scenarios.
Support ballistic missile delivery system commodity identification training to foreign partners.
Support the identification and disposition of commodities supporting delivery systems.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, or a related technical field with at least 10 years of experience.
Experience in ballistic missile delivery systems, rocket propulsion, or missile defense systems, and commodities threats.
Strong understanding of missile guidance systems, propulsion technologies, and warhead delivery mechanisms.
Experience with intelligence analysis and missile threat assessments.
Familiarity with DTRA, DoD, or other government agency operations related to countering WMD and missile threats.
Proficiency in relevant software tools for missile modeling, simulation, and data analysis.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
Active security clearance or eligibility to obtain one.
Preferred Qualifications:
MS and 15+ years of related experience.
Explosive Ordnance Disposal qualified.
Familiar with the Missile Technology Control Regime (MTCR).
Familiarity with arms control agreements related to missile technology and non-proliferation.
