Terms of Employment • W2 Contract, 12 Months (Likely Extension / Possible Conversion) • This is a hybrid position. Candidates must be comfortable working onsite in downtown Baltimore Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays - and remotely on Mondays and Fridays.
Overview & Responsibilities • Our client is seeking an experienced Business Project Manager to join our Customer Operations team at one of the largest utility providers in the Baltimore market. This role sits at the intersection of business and IT, ensuring business needs are met throughout project execution. As a Business Project Manager, you will lead projects on behalf of the business, representing the needs of multiple departments and translating them effectively for IT teams. You will work closely with a Change Manager and Business Lead on the business side and collaborate with an IT Project Manager, Financial Analyst, and development/testing teams on the IT side.
Key Responsibilities: • Lead business-driven projects across Customer Operations, partnering closely with IT teams to align on project goals and requirements. • Collaborate with business stakeholders, including Customer Care and Billing, Field and Meter Services, Regulatory, and Customer Financial Operations, to identify project needs and establish clear business requirements. • Manage project planning, scheduling, and resource allocation, ensuring alignment with business priorities and timelines. • Act as a liaison between business and IT, translating business processes and requirements into actionable tasks for IT resources. • Develop and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including project charters, schedules, status reports, and budget updates. • Monitor project progress, manage risks, and implement mitigation strategies to ensure successful project delivery. • Facilitate stakeholder meetings, providing clear communication and updates on project status and milestones. • Partner with Change Managers to support effective change management initiatives and ensure smooth adoption of new processes and solutions. • Utilize Agile methodologies to manage project tasks, adapt to changing needs, and drive iterative progress.
Required Skills & Experience • PMP Certification and 5+ years of experience in Business Project Management, specifically supporting the delivery of IT projects. • Proven experience representing a business organization in projects that involve IT development, ensuring that business needs are clearly communicated and met. • Strong project planning, scheduling, and resource management skills. • Experience managing project budgets and providing regular financial updates. • Strong understanding of business processes, with the ability to translate these into technical requirements for IT teams. • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with a demonstrated ability to collaborate across business and IT functions. • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with a focus on attention to detail and delivering high-quality results. • Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, JIRA, or similar software).
Preferred Skills & Experience • Experience in the utility industry or working with Customer Care, Billing, Field Services, Regulatory, or Financial Operations teams. • Experience partnering with Change Managers and Business Leads on process improvement and change management initiatives. • Familiarity with Agile frameworks (e.g., Scrum, Kanban) and experience facilitating Agile ceremonies (e.g., daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives). • Experience using data analytics and reporting tools to support project decision-making and performance measurement.
