Yard Hostler/Driver Mars Pet US - OHL Site Leipsic, Ohio
A Shift (7am to 7pm) following a 2-2-3 rotation
Additional shift rotation details will be provided in the interview process.
The Yard Hostler/Driver drives switching equipment, tractors, and straight trucks to transport goods or equipment to and from designated locations. Makes decisions in sequencing schedule to maintain efficient loading and unloading operations. Loads and unloads trailers and verifies product count. Maintains a clean and safe docking area and reports any maintenance or safety issues to supervision. Refuels vehicles on site and documents locations and condition of equipment. Key Accountabilities
Maintain safe and efficient dock operation by switching trailers and equipment to and from docks.
Maintains equipment fuel levels and refuels equipment during appropriate times.
Loads and unloads trucks, verifying the count and condition of product. Reports overages, shortages, and damages.
Performs daily yard checks.
Properly secures loads, ensuring loads are within local, state and federal guidelines.
Prepares and maintains accurate records and/or logs as required policies and procedures.
Inspects truck equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, fuel, oil, and water. Notifies supervision of current or anticipated repair needs.
Complies with all company policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Performs other duties as assigned.
What are we looking for? Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum of one year verifiable experience driving, switching or commercial tractor
Understanding of business management software like SAP & Red Prairie
Ability to tolerate an ambiguous environment
Minimum Knowledge/Skills
Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a docking environment
Considerable knowledge of tractor/truck mechanics and maintenance
Good written and verbal communication skills
Ability to pass written exam, physical exam, company yard test and drug screen
Ability to maintain clean driving record
Ability to comply with all applicable OSHA regulations, commercial driving requirements as per state and federal D.O.T. and/or MSDS standards
Ability to comply with company safety rules, regulations, and required testing
Ability to read, understand, and follow directions/instructions
Wearing proper personal protective equipment (hair net, bump cap, ear plugs, safety shoes, and uniform)
Must be able to adapt to temperature and environmental extremes such as hot to cold, dust dirt and chemicals
Able to tolerate outside environmental conditions
