Job Summary:

Assisting in the management of single large projects or programs of projects that typically have a segmentation rating of 3 or 4 (greater than $30 million), or any project supportive of an Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) Contracting Strategy. Manages the development and delivery of a capital project or program to which he or she is assigned and focuses on the achievement of project cost and schedule objectives while achieving excellence in the areas of project safety and quality. Provides direct management and support to Project Team members throughout the project lifecycle. Works closely with business unit contractor representatives to achieve Capital Project organization objectives. Accountable for execution of the Project Delivery Standard on all assigned projects with a matrixed team of subject matter experts ("SME") including, but not limited to, construction, project controls, engineering, environmental, right of way, supply chain, distribution, finance, Governance and Oversight, legal, maintenance, operations, consultants, and executive leaders to ensure projects are executed with cost and schedule certainty. Report and present large capital project status on a regular basis to business unit and corporate level executives.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

· Promotes safe behavior and adherence to the safety rules on the project. Leads the project team to establish leading indicators and proactive requirements to ensure safety is considered in all aspects of design and implementation for contractors, project team members, and the end user. Ensures contract scope of work includes safety deliverables/requirements as needed.

· Defines the project organization structure required for the project and identifies the technical skills required to achieve project goals. Works with appropriate company management to assign appropriately skilled individuals to the Project Team. Assists in the preparation and execution of contracts and approves requisitions, change orders, etc. and processes invoices as required. Fulfills role of 'Contract Manager' or as Owner's representative as otherwise defined in the project contracts and administer contracts. Issues formal correspondence to Contractors.

· Leads the project team to develop and execute the Project in accordance with the applicable corporate standards, guidelines, policies, and processes. Ensures that team members fulfill the responsibilities as required of their roles. Navigates the project through the Stage Gate Process (SGP) and coordinate activities to meet the requirements of the SGP and associated deliverables (estimates, schedules, gates, deliverables, etc.).

· Directs the project team and contributes to the development of project deliverables (Project Execution Plan (PEP), contracting strategy, cost estimates, schedules, risk register, reports, etc.). Coordinates the activities of project stakeholders and working groups engaged in project work.

· Contract manager for large EPC contracts and multiple supporting subcontracts. Monitors contractor(s) performance in project safety, scope, schedule, cost, quality of work, contract change request and compliance with contractual requirements.

· Develops and maintains the PEP and executes the project in adherence to this plan. Establishes and maintains project documentation. Coordinates the efforts of all project participants, including consultants and contractors. Ensures previous projects' Lessons Learned and applicable industry experience is incorporated into the PEP. Manages the project to achieve the project budget and baseline schedule. Ensures project controls are implemented for effectively managing project scope, schedule, quality, cost, cash flow, risk, contracts, change management and communications in accordance with the applicable corporate standards.

· Provides clear, timely and accurate project status reports for management. Prepares reports and presentations to management. Prepares and issues status reports as needed. Identifies, makes timely decisions, and takes prompt action on project issues that could impact project performance. Promptly communicates issues to the next level of leadership that are outside the authority or capability to resolve.

· Coordinates with all corporate functional departments as required to achieve the requirements of the applicable corporate standards and to achieve project budget and timeline including Finance, Legal, Operations, and Supply Chain. Turns over completed project equipment/systems to Operations with all documentation, training, and instructions.

· Serves as a departmental SME and mentors other Project Managers, Sr. Project Managers and team members in the project team and Capital Projects organization.

Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

Minimum Basic Requirements

· Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field or equivalent work experience required;

· Ten or more years' experience in utility power generation required;

· History of safe performance, active safety involvement and participation and strong desire for a safer workplace required;

· Experience with reviewing, executing, and managing large EPC contracts required;

· Knowledge of processes and key performance indicators for capital projects process planning and asset management required;

· Strong contract negotiation, conflict resolution, problem solving, team building, interpersonal and group communication skills required;

· Demonstrated history of Planning/Organization/Time Management skills required;

· Project risk identification, mitigation, and management skills required;

· Ability to influence and motivate others;

· Ability to make "quick" decisions calmly while evaluating multiple options;

· Ability to apply understanding of how the team relates to other closely related teams to improve efficiency of own business unit;

· Proficiency with report writing and presentations;

· Strong computer skills and proficient in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel & Outlook, Power Point);

· Availability and willingness to work additional hours, to work in alternate locations, and/or to perform additional duties in connection with storms, outages, emergencies, or other situations as deemed necessary by the company.

Preferred Qualifications

· Advanced degree in related field;

· Ten (10) or more years' experience in large capital project management;

· Field Experience in the electric utility or related industry;

· PMP certification.

Working Conditions:

· Work is primarily conducted in an office environment (Private or Semi-Private office) but also requires occasional travel to off-site work locations (possible 25% - 50% travel);

· Field duties require outdoor work in a plant or field atmosphere;

· Interaction with other team members, as well as supervisors and client personnel;

· Working in plant and/or shop areas around production machinery with extreme noise levels;

· Must be able to wear safety equipment as required by the safety department for personal protection;

· May be at more than one job site in a day and must be able to tolerate climate changes.
