Under the supervision of the Electrical Supervisor, the primary function of the Electrical/Instrument Technician is to maintain, calibrate, perform trouble analysis, consult, research, and develop process control instrumentation to obtain optimum production efficiency.
Requirements
Coordinate all in-house electrical repairs and upgrades, including those related to plant controls for mining operations
Troubleshoot AC / DC motor controls and drives.
Actively research potential upgrades in automation and fine-tune existing plants to improve safety, efficiencies, plant capacities, consistency, availability, and reporting
Work closely with theengineering group and outside contracted vendors to meet deadlines and complete capital improvement projects
Support corporate safety culture and perform duties in compliance with all safety rules and regulations
Lead by example on all MMM safety rules/procedures and MSHA compliance standards and ensure that all employees are following established safety policies and procedures
Encourage employees to participate in Guardian Angel activities
Minimum Education and Experience
2-year technical degree in electrical or comparable experience preferred
Certified/licensed Electrician preferred
5 years' experience in aggregates or similar industry desired
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
Outstanding vendor relations skills (internal and external contractors)
Must be willing to be on call
Working knowledge of high voltage electrical systems required
Skilled in the use of hand tools, test instruments and electrical construction tools
Experience with PLC's a plus
Physical Requirements
Work requires the ability to lift a maximum of 100 lbs
Must be able to climb stairs, climb ladders, reach, squat, tolerate prolonged standing/walking, balance, bend from trunk, operate mobile equipment, crawl, kneel, push and pull objects
Work requires the ability to perform sustained overhead reaching
Work requires the ability to use vibration tools
Work requires the ability to perform work while lying on yourback for prolonged periods and in some cases cramped quarters
Work requires the ability to work in areas with the potential for high noise levels
Work is performed 90% outdoors in all environmental temperatures and weather and 10% indoors
Able to reason through difficult operations problems, resolve said problems, and/or relate same to others
Working Conditions
All duties require outside assignments and require periods of work in all weather conditions, cold, wet or dry and dusty. Must be able to work in areas where noise levels are up to 85 dbs.
