The University of South Alabama’s Maintenance department is seeking to hire an Electrician I. Interested candidates should apply to be considered.
Essential Functions These are the job duties required of the position.
Essential Functions
Installs, maintains, alters, and repairs electrical systems, equipment, and fixtures.
Assists and/or performs work on electrical systems and related equipment in accordance with standard practices of the trade.
Installs, maintains, alters, and repairs wiring, power appliances, light machinery and electrical circuits.
Installs, maintains, and repairs electric motors, generators, and related electrical and mechanical equipment.
Locates and corrects power failure and short circuits.
Performs electrical work on photoelectric cells, time clocks, electric heaters, air conditions, motor generator sets, and air compressors.
Makes emergency repairs to elevators, generators, electrical appliances and equipment, and other electrical apparatus.
Accesses various campus facilities and job sites which may require climbing stairs, ladders, and scaffolding, working at heights in excess of 30 feet, working in inclement weather, and bending, stooping, and kneeling.
Moves equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 lbs.
Utilizes a University vehicle to travel to and from work sites or transport materials.
Serves as essential personnel during University closings.
Utilizes a bucket truck or ariel lift as required.
Regular and prompt attendance.
Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required.
Related duties as required.
