DESCRIPTION

Alternate Perspectives, Incorporated (API) has an immediate opening for a Human Resource Manager. If you want to be a part of dynamic team that helps young people ages 16-24-years-old, this job is for you! You will be a part of the nation’s most successful youth training and education program, Job Corps, for the past 60 years.

As the Job Corps Human Resource Manager, you will be directly supervising staff with in the HR department (if applicable). In addition, you will be responsible for the overall management of human resources. This will include matters such as personnel and benefits administration, hiring and oboarding, staff training, equal opportunity and affirmative action, and volunteer programs in compliance with federal, state and local laws, Department of Labor (DOL) and Alternate Perspectives, Inc. (API) directives. Lastly, you will be responsible for maintaining a high level of organizational expectations in addition to accuracy of work submitted.

Some Additional Essential Functions:

  1. Plan, coordinate and manage the administrative and personnel services of the center, working closely with corporate HR staff to maintain compliance with all federal, state and local laws and corporate policies and directives.
  2. Evaluate staff performance; provide staff training and implement organizational and personnel changes as approved by the Center Director.
  3. Develop departmental budget, monitor, and control expenditures, and revise and recommend changes to budget authorizations; ensure all requisitioning and purchasing of materials are completed in accordance with API and Center purchasing procedures.
  4. Develop and implement new and revised policies and procedures affecting human resources; coordinate with other departments to ensure compliance with overall center objectives and goals.
  5. Review and audit all assigned areas regularly for contractual compliance and effectiveness of delivery of services to students. Prepare related reports.
  6. Manage recruitment, screening, and selection of qualified applicants with the hiring supervisor, and advise in salary decisions.
  7. Extend approved employment offers and coordinate the processing of all job references for new employees, including verification of previous employment and educational levels, background checks and drug screening; oversee new employee orientation.


POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education/Experience Requirements:

Bachelor's degree and three years related experience, two of which must be supervisory. Directly related experience may be considered in lieu of formal education requirements. Experience working with youth, excellent written and verbal communication and computer proficiency required. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
