Job Title: Engineer - Gas Engineering

Base Salary Range: $76,186 - $95,233.
Job Summary
Plan and design natural gas distribution facilities in accordance with applicable codes, regulations, and industry standards. Provide technical expertise and support to all internal departments and outside agencies including customers, contractors, state and local officials and engineering firms. Responsible for securing all necessary permits, easements and right of ways as well as the specification of materials and procedures. Plan current and future system requirements for expansion, reinforcement, and replacement to ensure system adequacy, reliability, and safety. Prepare cost estimates, monitor, and evaluate current expenditures and prepare forecasts of current and future budget needs. Provide supervision during construction to ensure design standards are followed. Provide quantitative analysis for various engineering purposes such as actual project cost vs estimate, or capital budget spend analysis. Be able to draw conclusions from these quantitative analyses and put forth recommendations if needed. Ability to prepare and deliver presentations of results/findings in a clear and effective manner. Prepare designs and cost estimates for simple projects as needed.
Responsibilities
• Maintain, draft and update Gas Construction, Engineering, and Operating policies and procedures within an established document control system.
• Monitor new or changing regulations to recommend changes to policies & procedures to maintain compliance.
• Maintain, draft and update Construction Standards.
• Design, manage, and track special gas engineering projects as required.
• Ability to build and operate the gas system network model as required.
• Prioritize and organize own time to meet deadlines.
• Apply team effectiveness skills; contribute to the achievement of team goals.
• Strong computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, develop and update performance metrics, and input/manage data in databases. Must have ability to prepare policies, procedures, and standards, including written procedures and manipulating associated drawings.
• Ability to prepare reports, charts, and graphs.
• AutoCAD and ArcGIS experience preferred.
• Ability to prepare and understand engineering drawings.
• Experience or familiarity with natural gas piping systems, equipment, or operations preferred.

Technical Skills/Competencies

• Practical engineering experience/application - Planning, Operations and Engineering Design, Construction, (e.g. field experience, standardization "Perform economic analyses of engineering alternatives, develop business cases and defend in front of stakeholders.")
• Engineering documentation - Ability to adequately document and interpret engineering documentation
• Ability to review and approve engineering work done by others to ensure compliance with company standards, specifications, and contract requirements
• Knowledge of Regulatory and Compliance Environment - Local, State and Federal Regulatory Standards and requirements
Education & Experience Required:
• Bachelor's degree in mechanical or civil engineering or related field of study
• Minimum of three (3) years relevant experience required.
• Experience in: Piping design, Metering and regulating principles.
• Knowledge of: Corrosion control techniques, Gas system construction practices, Underground pipe locating, Map reading and blueprint reading and State and Federal pipeline safety regulations.
Preferred Qualifications: (Optional)
• AutoCAD and ArcGIS experience.
• Strong computer and interpersonal skills including written and verbal communications.
