The College of General Studies seeks experienced, talented instructional designers who want to contribute to a significant expansion of online programs and courses in the College. This is a professional staff position that requires a combination of skills in instructional design, instructional technology, faculty development, and project management. The person hired will develop relationships with faculty, staff, and administrators across campus. The candidate should be familiar with best practices of online course development, student engagement and deployment. The instructional designer will consult with faculty about course design and the development of materials for online and hybrid delivery, analyze current online teaching practices, and provide recommendations on teaching strategies and evaluation to improve student learning experiences. Working with faculty and integrating best practices in online learning, they will create course development plans, edit course materials, and select appropriate technologies for course development and teaching. Prior experience facilitating training workshops and building online learning objects using a variety of authoring tools is necessary for the successful candidate. The position requires strong project management skills to prioritize the needs of faculty members, instructional technologists, and video professionals. This position offers a remote/flexible schedule. Consult with educators on the design, development, and delivery of moderately complex instructional materials and the integration of instructional technologies.
The employee must be able to use a computer and keyboard, and be able to use video communication technology. Work is frequently conducted by email, telephone, or using video communication technology. The ability to communicate in a clear, concise, and positive manner to the diverse needs of faculty regarding online course and program development is essential.
