Sr. Research Associate 3



The University of Miami/UHealth department of The Miami Project has an exciting opportunity for Full Time Sr. Research Associate 3 to work at the UHealth Medical Campus.




Core Summary



The Sr. Research Associate 3, SOM (A) conducts highly specialized and complex research in support of the division's research goals and objectives and assumes responsibility for the successful operations of the laboratory. The incumbent also supervises the activities of all laboratory staff and users and serves as subject matter expert and mentor to less experienced staff.




Core Responsibilities





  • Contributes to basic and applied research activities by collecting and analyzing data. Understands and interprets research protocols and procedures.




  • Maintains an overview of relevant research findings.




  • Ensures all research is undertaken according to good research practice.




  • Designs, evaluates, and implements methods and protocols for assigned research projects.




  • Recommends purchase of new equipment for research projects.




  • Writes scientific articles and manuscripts for publication and presentation.




  • Oversees and ensures the safe handling of radioactive and hazardous materials.




  • Prepares analytical reports relative to research data.






Department Specific Functions





  • Researches, collects, analyzes, and synthesizes data and maintains databases.




  • Develop research strategies and studies to assess and evaluate grant activities.




  • Develop publications based on department activities and research.




  • Investigate grant funding opportunities for department and support team in developing grant proposals.




  • Develop future grant proposals and research projects with department team members.




  • Act as a mentor for students participating in the KNCs research projects and supervise practicum students.




  • Collaborating with the KNC's Research Coordinators on monthly and quarterly grant reports.




  • Ensure all grant deliverables are met in a timely manner.




  • Assist the Center Administrator with research administration on specific grants. i.e. Invoice tracking on specific projects, coordination of quarterly reports etc.




  • Conducts quality assurance checks, reports on the status of research activities, and submits monthly activity logs for protocol.




  • Organizes and coordinates community working group meetings for protocol activities.




  • Serves as primary point of contact for community partners and supervises and oversees research data collection at protocol venues in the community.




  • Reviews study progress, identifies areas of opportunity, and recommends solutions.




  • Prepares and updates study research procedures manual.




  • Continue to look for ways to improve and innovate the current programs and explore new program opportunities.




  • Assists with the preparation of grant proposals by processing regulatory documents for all institutions and offices involved.




  • Contributes to the publication and presentation of significant results and writes and edits material for publication and presentation.




  • Maintains research files and responds to phone calls on the research study phone line.




  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

Core Qualifications




  • Master's Degree in relevant field




  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience

  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
