Job Summary / Basic Function:

SUMMARY OF JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Radiology Instructor's responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing instruction for students enrolled in courses in the Allied Health and Sciences department. The instructor may teach a broad range of courses. This individual is also responsible for maintaining office hours; and teaching extended day classes, and hybrid/online courses, as required, both on campus and at alternate locations. This individual attends workshops, seminars, and conferences to upgrade teaching skills and assists in the development of curriculum, as needed. All LIT faculty are responsible for recruitment and retention as a part of achieving the Institute's Shared Vision of Growth and Excellence.



DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Actively engage students in the learning process while providing clinical instruction and supervision

  • Maintain ethical and professional behavior

  • Maintain knowledge of and adherence to the policies and procedures contained in the TSUS and LIT Policies and Procedures Manuals, and of program goals, policies and procedures

  • Participate in college service, which includes but is not limited to, committee work, advising and/or tutoring students, and recruiting

  • Teach classes during the fall and spring semesters as required by the department (might include day, evening, weekend, and Early College High School/dual credit); including online courses

  • Observes students for efficiency, skill, and knowledge.

  • Evaluates student's clinical competence.

  • Counsel students in clinical proficiency and deficiencies.

  • Maintains a record of counseling, evaluations, and assigns grades.

  • Prepares clinical schedules.

  • Maintains attendance records.

  • Participates in patient contact for student instruction purposes only.

  • Attends faculty and Institute meetings.

  • Act as a liaison between the Program and the designated clinical affiliate.

  • Attend Teaching and Learning Center sessions to enhance teaching skills

  • Stay abreast of national matters and trends in education

  • Participate in assessment activities for the LIT Core Curriculum

  • Assist in the development of curriculum as needed

  • Perform other related duties, as required







Physical Requirements:This position requires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time during lectures, demonstrations, and clinical instruction; occasional lifting of radiology equipment and patients in a clinical setting, constantly operate a computer or other required equipment.
Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Education Required:
Associate of Applied Science Degree


Minimum Qualifications:


  • American Registry Radiologic Technologist (ARRT)

  • License for a Medical Radiologic Technologist issued by the Texas Medical Board (current and unencumbered)

  • Two years of clinical experience as a registered radiologic technologist
