Great River Energy has openings for three Plant Operator I positions to assist in monitoring and operating the turbine/generator, boiler, and all related power plant systems from the central control room or remote locations to assure safe and efficient plant operations.

Responsibilities:
Monitor turbine/generators, boiler equipment, emission control areas and auxiliary equipment to ensure proper, efficient, and safe operations of all assigned equipment to determine impacts to plant operations.
Assist in the control room as needed operating and monitoring the control room boards, responding to calls, etc.
Communicate information about plant operations, equipment problems or malfunctions to shift team members.
Perform year-round yard maintenance actives to ensure safe access to and around plant site.
Facilitate and sustain the self-directed work team by demonstrating employee competencies and values, showing a high level of team commitment and mentoring each other to achieve success.
Qualifications:
Associate degree in applied science in power plant technology or power process, or equivalent experience is required. Work experience in power plant operations or maintenance is preferred. Electrical or mechanical experience is also preferred. Position requires a valid driver's license.
This position will start working day hours for the first 3-6 months while in training. Once qualified, the hours will transition to a rotating shift of 5-8 hour or 4-10 hour days, afternoons, nights weekends and holidays.
Working conditions:
Working conditions will be indoors and outdoors, sometimes in inclement weather conditions of extreme cold or heat. Must be able to travel to various locations throughout the plant and facility grounds. Conditions in the plant and facility grounds may include extreme temperatures, noise levels, and heights. There will be overtime, and/or working weekends.
This position requires the ability to occasionally to frequently sit, stand, walk, and lift up to 20-50 pounds frequently and bilateral carry up to 100 pounds on rare occasion. The ability to climb, balance, work at heights and work with arms above your head occasionally up to frequently. Ability to occasionally up to frequently stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, twist and squat, work on even and uneven surfaces and ability to work occasionally in confined space areas. Ability to frequently push, pull, carry, grasp and finger objects. Subject to frequent vibration and hazards and on occasion exposed to fumes, dust or mist. Must wear protective equipment when required. Must be able to differentiate colors, have vision ability to encompass close-up and distant work, and the ability to speak and hear. Must be able to wear/use SCBA, full face respirator, half mask, and a particulate respirator.
