Summary: Coordinates and processes Federal Loans and Private Educational Loans, adhering to applicable federal, state, and university regulations.
Essential Functions:
Responsible for processing all federal and private loan certifications, disbursements, and reconciliations. The Coordinator must ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional policies and regulations. 2. Maintains, updates, and tracks data bases (in-house and outside agencies) for loan adjustments. 3. Appeals agency denials or over-awards of loans as requested; verifies data by phone and correspondence.
Counsels and corresponds with students, parents, and agencies concerning loan programs and pertinent issues. 5. Performs automated processes (i.e. send, receive, and post loan transmissions). 6. Prepare and disseminate data in the form of lists, reports i.e. LT 6cr loan, entrance counseling, non enrolled etc. as needed by the FAO or assigned by the Director. 7. Interacts with other departments of the University exchanging information relevant to loan processing. 8. Works closely with Accounts Receivable and Student Accounts to preserve/return accurate loan amounts. 9. Expand and coordinates the Entrance and Exit Counseling Programs, informing incoming students of entrance counseling requirements, informing separating students and graduating seniors of the exit counseling requirements, and maintaining accurate documentation of the required exit and entrance counseling for each borrower 10. Serves as liaison between lending institutions, student loan servicers, and the Financial Aid Office
Performs other related duties as required which include but are not limited to: back-up mail processing; monitor inventory of supplies; order loan supplies from outside agencies; front desk and office phone support as needed; review of nightly reports; prepare loan mailings as needed (i.e. pre-claim, Commencement Kickoff).
Required Qualifications:
Education: A high school degree/GED with specialized courses in bookkeeping, typing, word processing, office procedures is required.
Experience: Three years of general secretarial experience with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office products and office equipment (e.g. telephone, computer, calculator and copier equipment, etc.).
Skills: Must possess excellent attention to detail, verbal, written, proofreading and organizational skills; the ability to comprehend written and verbal instructions; ability to problem solve by considering available information and recommending solutions, ability to utilize procedures manuals and guides to research regulations and error; the ability to transcribe correspondence and enter data into records and logs with accuracy; the ability to perform basic mathematical calculations; the ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities, seeking direct regarding courses of action; and the ability to research and compile data.
