JOB RESPONSIBILITIES




  • People Planning/Development - Leads reporting teams in the creation and vision of a roadmap that provides direction and alignment of priorities with the tactical and strategic objectives of the department and organization. Delegate responsibilities to reporting personnel, establish clear lines of responsibility and accountability. Elevates team members thinking and understanding of the field by infusing best practice knowledge into the work. Leads the selection, development, mentoring and coaching of direct and indirect reports. Ensure that job requirements and goals for each position are clear to employees and that Medical Center initiatives, priorities, standards, and policies are effectively communicated and understood.



  • Department Leadership - Propose, research, and manage the development, implementation and assessment of long and short term technology goals and objectives in collaboration with department and organizational leadership. Operationalize, implement and monitor assigned initiatives. Drive execution of the assigned initiatives. Ensure strong and effective vendor partnerships for the technologies under direction including contract negotiations, extensions, scope of work, and performance guarantees. Acts together with management as a champion for positive organizational culture and quality of work life.



  • System Design and Strategy - Lead the development, design and implementation of systems and technology that meet workforce and patient care needs, are cost effective and consistent with best practice. Collaborate with department, business and operational leaders and gain senior leader alignment in support of technology adoption and changes. Ensure development and maintenance of policies and practices in support of processes. Serve as an expert resource to leaders, managers and employees about technology and solutions. Develop and deliver effective communications and training to staff. Provide oversight for relevant vendor relationships, RFPs and vendor selections.



  • Financial Management - Accountability for the financial management functions for the department in collaboration with senior leader. Develop, implement and evaluate the department's annual and capital budget to achieve the organizational and departmental objectives; Recommend a salary budget supporting the required FTE's to meet departmental needs; monitor expense; evaluate variances, determine underlying causes and identify, present, and implement proposed solutions; accountable for compliance with organizational financial policies and procedures.



  • Strategy - Provide leadership for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control and completion of specific projects ensuring consistency with organizational strategy, commitments and goals. Define project scope, goals, deliverables and resource requirements. Define and manage the project budget. Develop project plans resource allocation, and timeline. Drive completion of projects by collaborators and staff to ensure timely completion of deliverables. Monitor project deliverables and report on progress of the project to all stakeholders. Provide input on departmental strategy and planning with focus on areas of functional responsibility. Represent team in departmental discussions regarding selection/implementation of selected upgrades, enhancements or other solution products. Evaluate the return on investment for system enhancements and initiatives. Ensure services provided align with the mission, vision and strategies of the medical center.




Spends at least 90% of time managing the work of 2+ others



JOB QUALIFICATIONS



  • Bachelor's degree in a related field


  • 7+ years of work experience in a related job discipline
