The Estimator will prepare estimates for fabricated metal components and assemblies by gathering information, analyzing important metrics, and conducting regular risk assessments. The ideal candidate will be fluent in manufacturing, with in-depth knowledge of bills and routings for metal products and estimating ERP systems.
Responsibilities
Reviews customer drawings and RFP/RFQs.
Understands the part/project and its requirements from the job specifications.
Estimates material costs by completing BOM as needed.
Estimates hours using appropriate manufacturing methods ie: plasma cutting, welding, machining, etc.
Leads the Quote Review Meeting to present estimates and any potential concerns.
Conducts research to obtain data on costs, materials, production times, and develops preliminary schedule.
Reviews offers and quotes by sub-contractors and vendors.
Enters quotes in the ERP system and submits estimate reports or bids to appropriate persons (project managers, clients, sales team, etc.)
Requirements
Bachelor or Associate degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering is preferred or relevant field experience.
A minimum of 3 years as an Estimator or similar role.
Understanding of how to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
ERP Systems experience, Global Shop preferred
Experience quoting project based work in a job shop environment.
Proficient in MS Office, Solidworks, and Draftsight.
Knowledge of and the ability to understand geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
Knowledge of and the ability to understand welding symbols
Knowledge of and the ability to understand AWS and ASME welding codes
Proficient in estimating machined components and weldments
