The Ohio State University College of Dentistry seeks a Post Doctoral Scholar for a position that is funded by a NIDCR funded T32 Training Grant. Consistent with NIH policy, all T32 trainees, including this position, need to be held by US citizens, or individuals that have a green card.
Commensurate with funding by NIDCR, candidates must possess research skills that can be directly translated to topics focused on maintaining oral health, managing diseases of the oral and peri-oral craniofacial structures and extension of dental care to underserved populations. Accordingly, this position focuses on identifying reasons as to why underserved patients decline preventive dental care and developing strategies to gain acceptance. The successful candidate will have graduate training in qualitative research focused on underserved and vulnerable populations and a history of successful recruitment of participants for these studies.
Work Schedule: Hours varies depending on research needs and ongoing experiments.
A post doctoral scholar must be able to use both hands, dexterity in the fingers and the ability to manipulate instruments, materials, and operate equipment. The body must be able to stop and reach in order to conduct lab procedures. The ability to sit and stand for a duration of time is also necessary. Other specific requirements include color spectrum differentiation; manual dexterity/motor coordination, hand-eye coordination, physical communications; visual activity and communication/language development. Individuals is this position may be exposed to the follow: animals; bloodborne pathogens; chemical hazards (skin irritants); vibrating equipment; use of sharp instruments; and latex.
This position requires successful complete of a criminal background check and drug and alcohol screening.
Required: Required: PhD in Oral Biology or equivalent field.
