About the California State Univeristy Chancellor's Office:
The CSU Chancellor's Office, located on the waterfront adjacent to the Aquarium of the Pacific in downtown Long Beach, is the headquarters for the nation's largest and most diverse system of higher education.
Position Purpose:
Under the direct supervision of the Manager, Advancement Academy the student assistant will provide support for and assistance with various Advancement Academy projects. The Advancement Academy is the professional development program for the university system's Advancement professionals, providing targeted programming and convening communities of practice in philanthropy, alumni relations, special events and communications. The Advancement Academy is a program of the Systemwide Advancement Department. Systemwide Advancement provides leadership and support to CSU campuses regarding fundraising, alumni relations, and campus foundations.
The student assistant is expected to work 20 hours per week during the academic semester and may work up to 40 hours per week during intersession and summer session, depending on workflow and need. The student must be enrolled in at least six units at a CSU campus.
Major Responsibilities:
Maintain Advancement Academy websites and Systemwide Advancement employee intranet sites, ensuring information is current
Assist in monitoring and maintaining the Advancement Academy event's network social media channels
Assist in planning Advancement Academy workshops and community of practice meetings.
Compiling first drafts of communications projects for management review
Organizing electronic files
Data entry
This position requires:

The communication skills to interact well with all levels of staff and provide superior customer service, including establishing and adhering to boundaries with clients and co-workers.
A thorough knowledge of the English language, composition, grammar, spelling and punctuation, strong writing, editing and proofreading skills.
An organized and detail-oriented approach to work and the ability to quickly establish a system for efficiently and accurately completing assigned tasks.
A professional presentation, decorum and attention to detail which are of paramount importance due to the high visibility of projects within the department.
Proficiency in Microsoft 365 suite, Google Workspace, and Canva
A candidate who is dependable, reliable and punctual and has a good work ethic.
Preference may be given to:
Those with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
Graduate and upper division students in public administration or communications-related fields and those with event, web, and social media experience.
Qualifications
The student must be enrolled in at least 6 units at a CSU campus. This position requires basic experience in an office environment: basic knowledge of general office procedures and standard office equipment; basic working knowledge of current software applications such as Microsoft Office Word and Excel: ability to learn and perform assigned work; ability to handle multiple tasks and changing priorities; good organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
