We are seeking a Registered Home Care Aide (HCA) to provide specialized care for a client in a home setting. The ideal candidate will reside in or around the immediate vicinity to the Scripps Ranch area, is available for shifts from 8:30 AM to 6:15 PM, and has experience working with individuals living with mild cognitive impairment/dementia. This position is available to start immediately.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Must be at least 18 years of age
Current Registered Home Care Aide (HCA) certification
Comfortable in a smoking environment
Enjoy cooking and able to prepare simple, nutritious meals
Must be flexible and able to work the hours of 8:30 AM - 6:15 PM (weekdays and weekends)
Must be available to start as soon as possible
Must have at least one year of employment experience as a Home Care Aide
High School Diploma or GED preferred
Ability to effectively communicate with clients
Remain calm, compassionate, and respectful in high-stress environments
Ability to read and write in English
Ability to follow oral and written directions and complete work as assigned
Maintain confidentiality of personal information and client services
Reliable vehicle
Possess current state-issued driver's license and automobile insurance
Maintain a positive work attitude at all times
Ability to pass a background check
A neat, professional and hygienic appearance, including but not limited to good oral hygiene, is required at all times. NO EXCEPTIONS.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Demonstrates support for the agency's mission statement to promote quality, efficient,?comprehensive, and effective client services
Engages in and assists with the agency's continuous updates to the client's care plan and requirements
Provides Home Care Aide services to clients as identified in each client's specific care plan, following policy and procedure with effective communication
A "mandated reporter" of suspected abuse of dependent adults
Reports client condition changes to supervision
Appropriately seeks supervisory assistance as necessary to effectively perform duties
Maintains confidentiality of client, employee, and agency operations
Participates in 5+ hours of annual in-service training as assigned
Maintains a neat appearance and positive attitude with clients, family members, and personnel. NO EXCEPTIONS.
Performs other duties as qualified and requested
Assists with personal care activities (ADLs) and IADLs as indicated on the care plan including, but not limited to:
Light housekeeping including dusting, vacuuming, linen changes, cleaning, and wiping down the kitchen and bathroom
Laundry of client's clothing and bedding
Social and emotional support
