Position Summary:
Arkansas State University's Department of History invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor 9-month tenure-track in History to begin Fall 2025. The successful applicant will serve as the BSE Social Science program director. Responsibilities include teaching content-specific and departmental Methods courses for BSE Social Science majors as needed, supervising the BSE Social Science candidates during their residency in the public schools, mentoring BSE students, and maintaining the program's accreditation. Candidates should have secondary social studies teaching experience, a Ph.D. in History or related discipline at time of appointment, and evidence of potential as a scholar and teacher.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Teaching load varies from 9-12 hours per semester depending on number of interns
Mentor and supervise BSE students
Write assessment and other program accreditation reports as needed
Attend programs specific meetings in the College of Education
Participate in departmental recruitment and other events as needed

Monday — Friday 8:00 a.m. — 5:00 p.m. Additional hours as requested and/or needed Regular and reliable attendance

Minimum Qualifications:
An earned Ph.D. in History or related discipline at the time of appointment, and evidence of potential as a scholar and teacher.
Two (2) years of teaching experience in secondary social studies or a related field
