The Process Engineer establishes, documents, implements and maintains capable injection molding processes through structured study and the application of scientific molding principles. Responsibilities include delivery of processes for new injection molding tooling introductions, support of existing tooling through cost reductions and process capability improvements, and day to day production support.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties as assigned): • Utilizes scientific molding principles and DOEs to establish robust molding processes following a standardized data-driven approach. • Maintains process documentation, records, and changes to ensure the correct process is being run in production. • Collaborates with process, tooling, quality, maintenance, and production to identify and solve problems using root cause analysis techniques. • Provides support to the quality team on all corrective actions. • Acts as a peer mentor to fellow process engineers and process technicians by actively sharing knowledge and utilizing a respectful challenge process. • Remains up to date with new industry technology and trends, proposes and manages the implementation of new technology that provides value to the organization.
EDUCATION AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS: • A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with 1 - 5+ years of experience. • Experience with injection molding, high precision and experience with tight tolerances is a plus. • Demonstrated ability to implement controlled molding processes into a production manufacturing environment. • Experience with lot number traceability, engineering grade resins, and specification driven processes. • Experience in the interpretation of molding simulation software results, Moldex3D preferred. • Working knowledge of in plant injection molding auxiliary equipment; robots/sprue pickers, mold water/oil heaters, hot manifold systems, screws, barrels, ceramic barrel heater bands, material drying and conveying, dew-point meters, etc. • Practical knowledge of Statistical Analysis and Design of Experiments preferred. • Highly collaborative, functions well on a team.
