This role will be a front line, full- experience purchasing role - we need someone who can go out, find Suppliers, communicate our needs, negotiate prices, monitor markets, and ensure we have a ready supply of what we need to keep our success going. Responsibilities for Buyer:
You're responsible for purchasing the materials we need. That includes identifying, qualifying, communicating with, and negotiating with the suppliers of materials that we seek. You'll have to maintain and build relationships with your counterparts there, and stay abreast of industry trends, market indices, and projected forecasts to ensure we're getting the best prices possible. For the right candidate, your compensation and incentive plan can be tied into cost savings if you would like.
You'll work with internal stakeholders - that includes production, engineering, and warehousing to make sure we have what we need on hand, we'll have what we need next week, and we'll know where to get what we need in the future.
Requirements for Buyer:
You'll need experience as a Purchaser or Buyer in a commodity environment - one where there are limited but multiple suppliers and the prices of what you buy changes frequently on both the long and short timeframes.
Preferably that experience will be with a manufacturing company. We're open minded otherwise but this is probably the best way to gain the experience we need.
You don't need a degree but having one will sure help place you at the front of consideration, especially if it's in Supply Chain Management.
The perfect candidate will have purchased virgin plastics, masterbatch blends, engineered resins, or similar raw plastic materials (along with colorants and additives). Knowing where to get what we need and who to talk to there will enable you to hit the floor running on day one.
