Amundsen Davis LLC is seeking a talented Infrastructure Engineer to join our team. This position is responsible for participating in the design, implementation, and management of the firm's advanced IT infrastructure. This role requires an experienced engineer who not only excels in technical execution but can also take on ownership and accountability, mentor fellow team members, and contribute to the firm's overall IT strategy. The Infrastructure Engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams, participate in executing major projects, ensuring infrastructure security and performance, and making recommendations for system improvements. The position also emphasizes planning, scaling, and automating infrastructure services to meet business needs.
Duties and Responsibilities
The following are the key responsibilities of the Infrastructure Engineer position:
Infrastructure Design and Ownership
Participate in the design, implementation, and optimization of enterprise-level infrastructure (servers, storage, networks, cloud environments). Take ownership of infrastructure architecture to ensure alignment with business goals and scalability for future needs.
Develop and manage infrastructure architecture that meets both current and future business requirements.
Participate in the evaluation and selection of new technologies to enhance infrastructure performance and scalability.
Execute the integration of on-premises and cloud systems to ensure seamless and secure operations.
Collaborate with IT leadership to define infrastructure strategies that support business objectives.
Ensure that infrastructure designs adhere to company standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
Technical Expertise and Ownership
Provide expert-level technical ownership in the maintenance, optimization, and troubleshooting of critical infrastructure systems, ensuring high availability and security. Conduct root cause analysis for complex technical issues.
Conduct performance tuning, system upgrades, and patch management to ensure optimal infrastructure performance.
Conduct in-depth troubleshooting and root cause analysis for complex infrastructure-related incidents.
Ensure business continuity by implementing advanced disaster recovery and failover solutions.
Coordinate with external vendors for advanced troubleshooting and escalations as needed.
Coordinate post-incident reviews and develop long-term solutions to avoid future outages or system failures.
Advanced Security and Compliance
Participate in the development and implementation of advanced security protocols across all infrastructure systems, including servers, storage, networking, and cloud platforms. Ensure compliance with evolving industry standards (i.e. NIST, ISO, GDPR) and participate in security audits and assessments.
Implement and monitor advanced security measures to protect infrastructure from threats and vulnerabilities.
Participate in security audits and ensure compliance with relevant industry regulations and best practices and other relevant standards.
Participate in the development and maintenance disaster recovery plans and conduct regular testing to ensure resilience.
Stay updated on emerging security threats and recommend proactive measures to safeguard infrastructure.
Collaborate with the security team to perform regular penetration tests and vulnerability assessments.
Strategic Cloud and Virtualization Management
Participate in cloud migration and hybrid cloud integration projects. Optimize cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, Azure) for performance, cost, and security. Oversee virtualization technologies, ensuring efficient use of resources.
Design and implement hybrid cloud environments, balancing on-premises and cloud-based infrastructure for optimal performance.
Assist with cost management initiatives, ensuring that cloud services are optimized for performance and efficiency.
Oversee virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V) to ensure high availability and resource optimization.
Ensure that cloud environments are properly secured and compliant with organizational policies.
Develop automation scripts to streamline cloud and virtualization management tasks, increasing efficiency.
Project Management
Serve as the technical lead on large-scale infrastructure projects, ensuring that all milestones are met and that projects align with long-term IT strategy. Coordinate project teams, manage vendor relationships, and ensure that projects are delivered on time and within budget.
Develop project plans and timelines for complex infrastructure initiatives, managing cross-functional project teams.
Collaborate with vendors and stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of new technologies and services.
Track project progress and resolve roadblocks to ensure timely delivery and adherence to budget.
Act as the primary point of contact for stakeholders, providing regular project updates and managing expectations.
Conduct post-project reviews to analyze successes, challenges, and opportunities for improvement in future projects.
Documentation and Continuous Improvement
Participate in the creation and maintenance of comprehensive technical documentation. Assist with continuous service improvement initiatives by assessing existing infrastructure processes and suggesting areas for automation and efficiency improvements.
Ensure that infrastructure documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and available for future reference by the IT team.
Identify opportunities to improve infrastructure processes through automation and new technologies.
Participate in post-implementation reviews to assess project success and areas for future improvement.
Establish and maintain a documentation repository and implement version control to ensure accurate, accessible records.
Regularly review and update operational procedures, ensuring they reflect current best practices and technologies.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement
Work closely with IT leadership, operations, and security teams to integrate infrastructure with applications and services. Participate and advise in high-level decision-making to guide the organization's technology direction.
Collaborate with security and operations teams to ensure seamless integration and secure infrastructure.
Serve as a technical advisor in IT leadership meetings, contributing to long-term IT strategy development.
Engage stakeholders across departments to gather requirements and align infrastructure solutions with business needs.

Establish strong relationships with stakeholders, fostering trust and ensuring ongoing communication throughout project lifecycles.
Education and Experience
Consulting background or experience working for a managed service provider preferred | Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or commensurate work experience | Relevant advanced certifications (e.g., Cisco CCNP, Microsoft Certified Systems Expert, AWS Certified Solutions Architect) are highly desirable | 7+ years of experience in IT infrastructure engineering, with a focus on ownership, execution, and project management | Proven track record of designing and managing large-scale, complex IT infrastructure
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Proven experience with the implementation and administration of the following:
Operating Systems | Windows OS (server and desktop) / Linux
Strong knowledge of network protocols, firewall management, and security best practices.
Experience with on-premise and hybrid cloud environments and migrations
Strong strategic thinking and planning skills, with the ability to anticipate future infrastructure needs and recommend scalable solutions.
