The Plant Manager leads a 24/7 chocolate manufacturing facility, driving performance in Safety, Quality, Production, Service, and Cost. The Plant Manager also champions continuous improvement to achieve operational excellence and financial goals.

R.M. Palmer Company, LLC designs, produces, packages, and ships seasonal chocolate novelties. Its products include filled chocolates, solid chocolates, chocolate bars and balls, chocolate cups and coins, chocolate patties, and seasonal products. In addition to their own branded products, the Company co-manufactures both seasonal and everyday products for other large branded companies. Today, the Company operates out of two manufacturing facilities and one distribution facility with ~600 full-time employees. R.M. Palmer Company, LLC has some of the most differentiated manufacturing capabilities in the industry as one of the only companies in the U.S. able to make hollow molded chocolate candy products and multicolor chocolate candy novelties.

Plant Manager Key Responsibilities:
  • Safety Leadership: Foster a strong safety culture and prioritize safety in all operations.
  • Servant Leadership: Oversee daily operations and ensure targets for Safety, Quality, Production, Service, and Cost are met.
  • Continuous Improvement: Implement lean manufacturing practices and utilize root cause analysis to solve production challenges.
  • Maintenance Coordination: Partner with the Maintenance and Reliability team to establish and enhance proactive maintenance strategies.
  • Team Development: Build a high-performing team, assess talent, and develop employees for leadership roles.
  • Performance Monitoring: Identify improvement opportunities by analyzing data and monitoring performance against KPIs such as safety, quality, waste, and productivity.
  • Human Capital Management: Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement within the facility.
  • Budget Management: Develop and manage the operating budget, monitor expenses, and implement cost-saving initiatives.
  • Capital Projects: Collaborate on capital projects and oversee new line installations.

Plant Manager Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Engineering, Business Management, or a related field (Master's preferred).
  • 5+ years of food manufacturing experience.
  • Proven management or supervisory experience in food manufacturing.
  • Experience with budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • In-depth knowledge of food safety standards and regulatory requirements (GMP, FDA, USDA, HACCP).
  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
